Galway’s most enterprising businesses will receive a New Year bonanza next week when they will be honoured at the 6th Annual SCCUL Enterprise Awards.

Businesses planning to enter the SCCUL Enterprise awards are being urged to submit their entries as soon as possible. The deadline for entries to the innovative awards programme which celebrates entrepreneurship and rewards local enterprise is 5.30pm tomorrow Friday November 6.

A €50,000 prize fund is on offer to Galway-based entrepreneurs in the sixth year of an innovative competition aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and rewarding local enterprise. The sccul enterprise awards, launched on Monday night in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society, NUI Galway, is an initiative of community based company SCCUL Enterprises Ltd. 

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland has launched their nationwide search for people with innovative ideas and new solutions to solve some of Ireland’s biggest social and environmental problems. The awards ceremony which will take place in the Bailey Allen Hall, NUI Galway tonight will celebrate enterprise in six different categories: Agriculture and Food, Arts Tourism & Sport, Business Services, Consumer Goods and Services, ICT and Social Enterprise.

Businesses participating in the fifth annual SCCUL Enterprise Awards and Business Expo will have the opportunity to attend a series of mentoring masterclasses on key business management issues in the Bailey Allen Hall, NUI Galway on Thursday January 29.

Galway native Aoibheann O’Brien, and her co-founder Iseult Ward, have been awarded the 2014 Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Impact Award, worth €140,000, for their organisation FoodCloud.
